I am Sara Rae, an oil painter working both plein air as well as in my studio. I mainly paint alla prima (Italian for at first attempt). I am drawn to painting still lifes, flowers, and most recently local landscapes. My work is often characterized by thick, expressive brushstrokes. I am influenced by Modern Impressionists and aim to capture the impermanence of nature and ever changing light.
